Deep in your heart, how old are you really ?
At heart, the 21-year-old who sat down to write his first 'real' news story. Of course I would hope to do it better now. But, my body usually disagrees with the idea of being 21.
Are you superstitious ?
I try not to be, but of course however realistic we think we are, there is always a part of us that sits in the back of our minds believing in magic, myth and mystery.
How will you find inner peace ?
In nature and in sharing it with friends and family. I often feel most at peace with a fishing rod in my hand or the ocean breeze on my face.
If you were defined by 'music,' what would you be ?
It would have to be the blues - everything from Billie Holiday to Van Morrison.
In which part of the world would you have liked growing up ?
I grew up in Scotland and Australia. I could never decide between the two. But, I've seen most of the world and those two are pretty special - for different reasons.
What are you rather partial to / What is your "pet addiction" ?
Red wine, cheese and crackers. Sorry...
What do you believe will be the greatest invention of the next millennium ?
A technique for reversing the greenhouse effect. We've done the damage. Our next hero will find the solution.
In your opinion, what is the worst human trait ?
Violence, at all levels.
What is your favorite childhood recollection ?
Sitting on a hill called Dumyat in Scotland, which I had spent the morning climbing, with the sun on my face and the Forth river valley laid out before me.
Name something that has changed your life.
The birth of my first child, Reece. Of course both Reece and my second child, Stewart, are precious to me, but the arrival of Reece changed everything.
